USA Today reports Trump has Officially Begun to Withdraw the US From the World Health Organization as Pandemic Spikes:

The Trump administration has officially begun to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization, even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grip the globe and infections spike in many states across the U.S.

Congress received formal notification of the decision on Tuesday, more than a month after President Donald Trump announced his intention to end the U.S. relationship with the WHO and blasted the multilateral institution as a tool of China. The White House said the withdrawal would take effect on July 6, 2021.

[...] The formal withdrawal comes as the United States nears 3 million reported coronavirus cases and more than 130,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data. Globally, there have been 11.6 million cases and almost 540,000 deaths.

According to whom, Democrat voters? Remember, about half the country reliably votes Republican, and they're happily supporting Trump no matter how badly he screws things up. And according to them, *not* supporting Trump or being loyal to him means you're anti-American, traitorous, etc.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in November, but I'm not placing any bets for Biden (or Trump for that matter). We've seen this too many times: the Dems pick a lousy candidate, think they have the election in the bag because the other guy is even worse (according to them, because they just can't understand the GOP voters), and then they lose and wonder why. Just watch what happens this election; the Dems will talk about lofty, high-minded concepts like "unity", "competence", etc., but they just can't seem to understand that Republican voters don't care about those things, and wouldn't know competence in government if it slapped them in the face.

It's not that they don't understand competence, that's again projection from the Democrats. They just have a fundamentally different view of government. Democrats want a nanny-state to look after them, Republicans want to be left alone. They agree with Will Rogers "Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for. "

about half the country reliably votes Republican,

Wrong, it is about 12%, the dead-enders who supported Bush when it became obvious what a traitor he was. The rest of the Republican vote is not reliable, and probably gone for the next go round. And, it is not even half of the American population, let alone half of the qualified American population, that votes, let alone votes Republican. They are a very small number of very stupid people, who watch Fox News, and they are very old, so Covid-19 will thin their numbers, and the Republican party will never again hold office in America. They are the next Whigs. Death-eating party that is dead. You vastly overestimate your numbers, which will become apparent if you are foolish enough to try anything that requires numbers. Dead Republicans. Liberals are more numerous, and better shots; See, "Civil War".

Does not argue against the basic fact that liberals are better armed, better shots, possessed of superior fire control, and will mow down all you 2nd Amendment types with the proper application of the Second Amendment: All Enemies, foreign and Domestic, y'all! We will not be coming for you, but just think, when you march into some city street, did not the term "ambush" ever enter your mind? Liberal Snipers? No, they would never do that! Unless, it was necessary to defend freedom. See how that works?

I hope they are only using FMJs, but I can't guarantee it.

Liberals are only good shots when they're paying someone else to hold the guns for them (usually, the police). Note that I don't say "better" shots than conservatives; I'd sooner trust a gun-toting conservative to hold a gun because they're maybe experienced enough with them not to limp-wrist it, or hold it sideways.

Also, to say that the civil war era is reflective of the modern demographics of society insofar as it can predict a particular skill is laughable.

That all said, I agree that conservatives are far outnumbered, and growing more so every day. I've been distressed to think that social progress is a function of generational turnover which necessarily depends on the passing of the older people with strong toxic opinions. They're not so numerous, but they have lots of money to contribute to propaganda and they have the time to go through the whole voting process, at every level, every single time. I don't like thinking of them as a burden on society but some of them make it hard to have any other impression.

GOP voters know that "competence" in government equals an abridgment of their freedom.
Lest we forget, our competent government under St. Obama gave us such competence like: gun walking to Mexico, Snowden, Libya, and government emails on random people's computers.
