Twitter permanently suspends Trump's account:

US President Donald Trump has been permanently suspended from Twitter "due to the risk of further incitement of violence", the company says.

Twitter said the decision was made "after close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them".

Mr Trump had earlier been locked out of his account for 12 hours.

Twitter then said that it would ban Mr Trump "permanently" if he breached the platform's rules again.

Reacting to the permanent ban, Trump 2020 campaign adviser Jason Miller tweeted: "Disgusting... if you don't think they're coming for you next, you're wrong."

It comes after Mr Trump tweeted several messages on Wednesday, calling the people who stormed the US Capitol "patriots".

Hundreds of his supporters entered the Capitol building as the US Congress attempted to certify Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election. The ensuing violence led to the deaths of four civilians and a police officer.

The siege took place just hours after Trump addressed supporters and told them: "We will never give up; we will never concede."

[...] On Thursday, Facebook said it had suspended Mr Trump "indefinitely". The popular gaming platform Twitch also placed an indefinite ban on the outgoing president's channel, which he has used for rally broadcasts. So has Snapchat.

Two online Trump memorabilia stores were closed this week by e-commerce company Shopify. On Friday, Reddit banned its "donaldtrump" forum for the president's supporters.

[...] The big question now is, can Trumpism survive without the backing of mainstream media? Or will it simply slip into the shadows of the internet?

There was definitely violence and deaths at CHAZ/CHOP. Here we had one officer die, which would be a badge of honor for any antifa. You can decide whether a pig's life is worth more or less than the others. Aside from that, there was some furniture and windows damaged, but the priceless art collection went unscathed.

CHAZ/CHOP [vox.com] was in effect for about three weeks before two people were killed with neither incident having anything to do with the protest. The only accusation that stands against the protesters is that if the police had still been active in the area they might have intervened in time to prevent the deaths.

By contrast there's no doubt at all that it was Trumps rioters who murdered Brian Sicknick [nytimes.com] and trampled Rosanne Boyland [nypost.com] to death.

Bears repeating. Not like that cowardly teen, or the delinquent with a Dodge, these people killed a police officer who was serving the United States. They are rebels, murderers, and scum. The tread on the woman with the "don't tread on me" flag! And killed her! How low can the right go? Bad enough when it was just indefinite detention without charge, or separating children from their parents at the border, or allowing Stephen Miller to attempt to breed, but now this.

It ceased to be a peaceful protest the moment you forced a way through the security cordon. You could have stopped there and nobody could have done anything about it.

Once it was no longer a peaceful process you were responsible collectively for what subsequently occurred.

Once it was no longer a peaceful process you were responsible collectively for what subsequently occurred.

The same game was played with criticism of the Floyd protests. People who legally protested were lumped with the rioters, looters, and arsonists who also came out to play. As we've long ago discovered, you can't have collective responsibility over something you don't collectively control.

Ooooh, khallow might be edging towards self-awareness!

            Couple of problems though.

            a) BLM protesters were punished by being physically assaulted and arrested
            b) Every insurrectionist that breached the barriers is guilty of at least felony trespassing if they did not participate in any of the violence
            c) Bears repeating, peaceful protesters were punished

      Peaceful occupation vs. violent insurrection.

Keep in mind who got "peacefully" occupied. When you can't run a business or live in your home because some violent squatters took over the block, it's not peaceful occupation.

Talk to the people who actually lived in the area. It was hardly peaceful, even if you count protection rackets as peaceful.

But they were explicitly calling themselves outside the scope of the US governments. See the big "Now leaving the US" sign. This is indeed sedition. If that's the excuse, apply it evenly. Hahahahaha. Yeah, that'll happen.
