Google'S Daydream Vr Headset Reported To Cost $79 - Cnet
Arthur T Knackerbracket has found the following story [cnet.com]:
Google is expected to announce a host of new hardware at a media event on Tuesday, and its first Daydream virtual-reality headset may be among the new offerings.
The headset, which the company will reveal tomorrow morning in San Francisco, will likely cost $79, Variety [variety.com] reported Monday. The headset will be manufactured by HTC, the same company rumored to be making the Pixel and Pixel XL, a pair of phones Google is also expected to unveil Tuesday, according to Variety.
The new headset underscores the tech community's growing interest in virtual reality, which promises to transport goggle-wearing users to a computer-generated 3D environment. Alphabet, Google's parent company, is said to be investing big money on content for the platform, much of it going toward development of video games and apps, licensing sports leagues and shooting 360-degree videos.
In addition to unveiling Daydream and the Pixel phones, the tech giant is also expected to give more details about Google Home, a new smart speaker that will compete with Amazon Echo [cnet.com] as an always-listening virtual assistant. It is also expected to unveil a 4K Google Chromecast Ultra [venturebeat.com], a digital media player capable of streaming 4K resolution content to a HDMI-equipped display.
