Donald Trump's Twitter feed is his mouthpiece to the world. He criticizes global leaders, threatens war, berates the media, and, well, you name it. It's no understatement to suggest that the nation's 45th chief executive has assumed the Twitter Presidency.
Now there is a movement afoot to silence the @realdDonaldTrump handle [arstechnica.com], which has 36.6 million followers and has tweeted more than 35,000 times. Despite allegations that Trump is breaching Twitter's terms of service for using the service to threaten violence, Twitter isn't about to kick off its most high-profile tweeter.
Valerie Plame Wilson (former CIA agent that had her cover destroyed by the Bush administration) has started a GoFundMe [gofundme.com] page to raise $1 billion, which would make her Twitter's largest shareholder and give her great monetary influence over Twitter's policies. (as of 10pm GMT when submitted, a little over $22,000 has been pledged.)
From the Go Fund Me page: Proceeds from this campaign will be used to buy a controlling share of Twitter. If we can't get a majority interest, we'll explore options for buying a significant stake in the company and champion this proposal at the annual shareholder meeting. If that's impossible for any reason or if there is a surplus from this campaign, 100% of the balance of proceeds will be donated to Global Zero, a nonprofit organization leading the resistance to nuclear war.
