Short version: The US 11th Circuit Court issued a ruling that obtaining cell phone location data (cell-site historical data) requires a warrant. This is in contrast with an earlier ruling by the 4th Circuit, which found no expectation of privacy for this information and thus, concluded that a warrant was not necessary.
