On September 14th 2014, a massive fireball [amsmeteors.org] streaked across the skies over the northeastern USA. Reports said that for a brief moment it was brighter than the full moon, bright enough to cast shadows on the ground, and visibly broke up. Hundreds of reports [amsmeteors.org] show this meteor traveling across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York; with it being visible as far away as North Carolina, Illinois, and New Hampshire.
