Aside from that, having every adult carry a firearm is impractical and given the current state it would be self defense for every black person to gun down an officer who so much ad raises their voice or touches their weapon.

I've often pointed out that arrogant cops fai to deescalate explosive situations. Starting with the Rice kid in Cleveland, I've agreed that the cops are just murderers, often enough. I've often called for the police to stop defending their bad cops. I want cops to be held accountable, and I want to see an end to (un)limited immunity. Stop and Frisk is unconstitutional, and I've called for the blacks in New York to mount an insurrection against the NYPD for that reason. I have a long, consistent record of demanding accountability of the cops. So, your point here, is what, exactly? You're surprised that I'm not on the cop's side in this particular killing?
Give people their second amendment rights, and the systemic racism will end. The second amendment was put into place specifically to prevent government from infringing on all the rest of your rights. The second has nothing to do with hunting, sport shooting, or any thing else of the nature. The second was put into place to ensure that the PEOPLE have more power than GOVERNMENT.

These riots were long overdue because decades of peaceful protests have done nothing to implement change. Only with the massive protests and riots did NY implement some serious legislative changes over police misconduct, and on queue many of the police officers are on strike because they don't want any oversight. The sad truth is simply protesting does very little. Even Ghandi had to get Indians to strike before the British paid any attention.
I would much prefer some other methods of effecting change rather than destruction of property, but without the support of conservatives and the conservative/liberals that call themselves Democrats it is basically impossible; and as I've pointed out before you shit on Kapernick who was the most effective peaceful protester so far.

John Oliver isn't as bright as he would like to think. Jim Crow wasn't the start of racism, not by a long shot. Catching runaway slaves wasn't the start of official policy. It started long before that, when blacks, whether slave or freeman, was denied the right to bear arms. That is an essential element of equality and freedom. If you cannot defend yourself, you're not free. Oliver needs to go back to the beginnings, if he hopes to understand racism. Bad shoot. Two cops proved to be physically incapable of restraining Jacob, so one cop pulls his weapon and empties it into Jacob's back. We should conclude that Jacob did not collapse, until the seventh shot was fired? Bullshit. It takes an awful lot of shots, or significant time, to stop somebody by blood loss. Many people are not stopped by pain. So it's a slow death situation unless the bullets all hit the aorta.
Hitting the spine works much better. That is really hard to do on purpose. Done by luck, it's still hard to tell immediately if a person is falling or merely crouching, and the muscles don't necessarily relax immediately. Muscles often do the opposite, with a spasm that could lift a person.
Somebody with just 5 seconds of remaining body control could shoot the cop.

Yeah, I understand every bit of that. But cops are indoctrinated in training to treat every situation as if the "bad guy" is a fucking trained assassin. That 21 foot rule, for example. "A trained killer can attack with a knife from 21 feet away faster than you can react if your weapon is already drawn, and aimed" or some similar horse shit. Basically, cops are trained at the academy that they should kill anyone within 21 feet of them. Systemic bullshit, if not racism. It goes on and on, with policy, doctrine, procedure, protocol, etc ad nauseum.
Can we start with that discredited 21 foot rule, and start disassembling the more onerous policies?
Right here in small town America, there is an unofficial policy, "If you see a white and a black person in a vehicle together, they are dealing drugs! Stop and interrogate them!" In and of itself, that stupidity can discourage friendships. "Every time I'm seen with Dennis, the cops fuck with us!"

I think the original 21-foot rule applied to a guy with a knife vs a cop with an old 38 in a holster.
It was 21-foot sprint vs pull a gun, flip the safety, aim and fire. The cop will probably get a slug into the knife guy, but the knife guy is still falling forward and has reasonably good chance to stick the knife in the cop too. If the cop misses, he's toast.
Six cops in a line with glocks already aimed unloading into someone at 21 feet is just a firing squad.

If you are either psycho or drugged up enough to charge at a cop with a knife you are armed and dangerous and probably lacking the inhibitions that make normal people slow to stab other people. Did you miss the words "charge at" ? If you are 21 feet away with a knife you are a possible threat and the cop should stay alert and probably draw his weapon. He should also be trying to talk the knife-holder into putting it down. If you charge at him holding a knife he has the choice of pull the trigger or get stabbed. What do you think he should choose?

First, you need laws - that are actually enforced - to prosecute police for murder when they shoot an armed person, black or otherwise, that is not committing any crime.

That is exactly what the police think. The district attorney, on the other hand, ordered the kid's arrest. The kid surrendered to police peacefully. In fact, the kid attempted to surrender only a minute or so after firing the last shot of the evening. The cops weren't interested in arresting him. Many people are charged by district attorneys. Some walk away scot free. Some undergo lengthy trials, to be found guilty. Many do the plea bargain thing, and escape any serious punishment. No. The first relevant video is of Rittenhouse being chased by Anthony Huber. They are obscured by a car, then shots are fired. Huber is fatally wounded. Rittenhouse calls 911. While he is making the call other people turn up and chase him. He is dragged to the ground, kicked, and hit with a skateboard before he opens fire a second time, killing the skateboard wielder and wounding the guy attempting to shoot him with a pistol.

Except - not one person in any of the videos can be quoted calling for a citizen's arrest. But, that is all rather beside the point. Kyle was running TOWARD the police. As he approached the police, he raised his hands, and attempted to surrender to police, who clearly have the authority to arrest.
We could run in circles with that all day long. And, when all is said and done, Kyle was still defending himself from a violent mob.
Facts are facts, and the mob didn't have time or opportunity to edit the video to prevent the facts coming out.

The only relevant right exercised was Rittenhouse's right to self-defense. You don't get to grab someone's gun just because you think they committed a crime, and you would be a fool to try it. Rittenhouse was retreating, not gunning random people down. You are going to be sorely disappointed by the outcome of the court case, but maybe you'll be more careful when playing lawyer in the future.
Oddly enough, the three people Rittenhouse defended himself against had violent criminal histories. What are the chances of that? I watched this one without sound, as I'm at work. All I gotta say right now is that was one big powderkeg with all the guns and angry people.

The wife stumbled over this video on Facefook, called my attention to it. I don't feel like messing with Facefook today, so I searched for it. I'm not a fan of infowars, but they appear to be reasonably accurate. That is to say, I'm halfway through the 30 minute video, and haven't yet found anything to argue with.

Frankly, that exposes your bias, Frank. You examine the evidence offered, THEN you find fault wherever fault lies. Anything else is dishonest. In this case, the Infowars video differs very little with what I've been watching all day today. They haven't doctored video, they haven't inserted any crazy shit, and they keep the commentary regarding the video pretty much on track. See my followup note below, regarding my differences with these guys.

Your ignorance is showing. I've been all over the internet today, chasing everything I could find on this story. As I stated above: Infowars does a credible job in this case. Their commentary on the people who were shot by police is callous, maybe even discriminatory, but their work with this video is flawless. The video they show is exactly the same being shown everywhere else.
If you choose to remain ignorant, so be it. There is nothing I can do about that.

I have to add a comment after finishing the video. These guys are mostly right, their analysis of the videos available seems to be spot on. I have a problem with their rather callous dismissal of police shooting victims though. Jacob and George Floyd are both played down, and police responsibility dismissed. The Arbury shooting, likewise. Someone might legitimately scream "white supremacy" at these guys, they don't care that excessive force might be used, don't care about the consequences.
But, I'm with them 100% in their analysis of the available videos. Kyle was attacked, repeatedly, and he made a good accounting of himself. The score in this case, was Good Guys 3, Bad Guys 0. We'll see what happens in court. Kyle's biggest liabilities are, his age (there may be a law in play that prohibits a 17 year old from open carry) and being from out-of-state. Surrender to authorities may be an issue, but you see him on video trying to surrender to police, and they ignore him. That "fleeing" bullshit will be dropped sooner or later.

For Floyd, the autopsy is revealing. He had 11 times the fentanyl needed to kill a non-addict, plus metabolites (already processed by the body) for another 5 times. In other words, he'd taked 16 times the amount needed to kill a normal person. He tossed some out of the vehicle. Video shows he had some in his mouth. Clearly, he was trying to ditch the evidence, and he overestimated what he could consume.
He survived the trip to the hospital. The autopsy shows that neck injury was not present.
Jacob had just come from shooting at cops, so that would set the expectations for what he might try to do. The video should be set to the tune of "Yakkity Sax", as used by Benny Hill. Jacob, armed with a knife, disobeys the cops. WTF dude, drop the knife and put your hands up. The cops follow Jacob around the car until Jacob reaches in for something. Now, maybe he just wants to grab his coffee, but the cops have to assume he is grabbing a weapon. Jacob was given plenty of opportunity to surrender, but he chose to die.
Life tip: when you have a history of shooting at cops and they finally get you at gunpoint, don't look like you are grabbing a weapon.

The problem is that the cop was clearly happy to kneel on the neck of a black guy for nine minutes, regardless of apparent distress. Whether or not that is what ultimately killed him is almost irrelevant.

I will just say that there are no winners in this case. There are 2 dead, 1 maimed, and another in jail charged with murder. This is what happens when you have a bunch of assholes itching for a fight in close proximity.
I find that I have little sympathy towards Rittenhouse. He was an out-of-state gun nut with delusions of being a hero protecting life and property. Instead, he has taken 2 lives and maimed another.
I'll also not shed a tear for the bald guy, as I'm guessing he was there to start some shit, and boy did he ever.
Were the other two innocent in this case? I don't think so, but they could have been trying to apprehend the shooter (stupid to chase a guy who has a weapon and has used it) since the cops didn't seem interested. Even with all the videos I don't have the complete picture. That will be for the courts to decide.
Rittenhouse now has to live with the fact that instead of protecting lives he has taken them. He may possibly sit in prison for a very long time. I assert that he should not have been there.

What AC posted, ahead of me. I don't have "the facts" for certain, but some people are claiming that Kyle worked at one of the two businesses the Kenosha Guard was guarding. If that is a fact that can be established, the "why was he there" question becomes a little less relevant. It doesn't lose relevance though. Underage kid toting a gun, and crossing state lines just doesn't look good to anyone.
A question that no one seems to ask or answer is, "Where were all the older adults when the kiddie diddler started chasing the kid?" How did Kyle get separated from the group? None of the older men took it upon himself to watch out for the kid? No one established a buddy system, and enforced it?
I'm a bad one to talk about a buddy system, because I ignored the rule all through my time in the military. But I did watch out for junior personnel as I matured.

I agree with you, but, we see that many cities and states still have laws that are unconstitutional. How about the District of Columbia? Their ultra-restrictive laws were stricken down by the USC, but they still enforce ultra-restrictive laws. IMO, that justifies the use of force by the citizenry against their "representatives". Assassinate a couple dozen of them, and watch how fast their replacements start making changes. And no, that isn't "terrorism". Terrorism would be rioting, and killing citizens in hopes of achieving the goal of persuading the reps to do what is needed.

Were the other two trying to apprehend him? Maybe, but it's pretty stupid to assume he will submit to citizens arrest when there are people screaming "get him", "bash him" and "beat him up" clearly audible on the video, one guy lands a flying kick, another is bashing him with a skateboard while the third tries to get the drop on him with a pistol. I think he was very restrained in not taking shots at the others who were closing in on him.
Oh, and as for that "plastic bag" idiot threw at him, if you watch all the videos there is, a little bit later, a fireball from where it landed. It might not have gone off as soon as intended but it was molotov in the bag.

They don't describe the fake surrender. The guy who got his biceps blown off did that. He held up his hands, as if in surrender, but didn't drop the pistol. He used that fake surrender to get closer without being shot. He then quickly dropped his arms down to go for the kill, but our hero Kyle was faster.
They don't describe the skateboard impact that hit Kyle on or near the head. That was intended to crack a skull, and it earned that attacker a single chest shot.
