Just came across coverage of this latest atrocity by the Florida Legislature.
By Senator Brandes
24-00095-22 2022324__
1 Senate Concurrent Resolution
2 A concurrent resolution rescinding the designation of
3 the mockingbird as the state bird.
4
5 WHEREAS, on April 23, 1927, the Legislature approved Senate
6 Concurrent Resolution No. 3, which designated the mockingbird as
7 the state bird of this state, and
8 WHEREAS, the Legislature intends that this designation be
9 rescinded, NOW, THEREFORE,
10
11 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida, the House
12 of Representatives Concurring:
13
14 That the designation of the mockingbird as the state bird
15 is rescinded.
No reason given, no explanation offered. But, given what it means to be "Florida Man", probably just as well not to be the "Florida Bird".
I have been a member for a while now, and thought I might help out by submitting some more interesting stories. Not gonna comment on the general quality of stories that make the front page, but let's just say I found some stories that I found worthy. Many of my submissions have been rejected, which is normal, and I am not complaining about that.
What does seem strange is that several times recently is that several of my manual submissions have been duplicated by robot subs, after mine were in the queue, and those later submissions accepted while mine (often identical) were rejected. What is going on? I am glad that these more interesting stories make it to the front page, but this seems to be a really indirect way of getting them there.
Also, there is a real dearth of member subs in the queue. Is it because of a policy of discouraging them, while at the same time requesting more of them? I do not think I will continue to make submissions. Doesn't seem like they are wanted.
Yours,
Mockingbird
