Did we just lose another few weeks of stories and journals?
I understand from NCommander's posts that we've had site instability (matches many of the people commenting, me included)
Fingers and toes crossed the work to upgrade and improve the site goes well..
Good luck (and here's hoping there are backups!)
Most 'old' cars had cable-controlled heating and cooling - levers on the dashboard controlled flaps to direct air to the screen, face, or feet.
One control determined if the incoming air was "fresh" air, from outside, or recirculated air (from under the dash somewhere, with the outside air blocked off)
The outside air intake seems to always be positioned to suck the exhaust from the car in front.
I don't like the smell of the exhaust fumes, so I have always left my car in 'recirculate'.
I can then have my driver's side window open a little to let some fresh air in, unless stopped in traffic, or in tunnels.
Modern cars have electronic controls, so the buttons do things, but also do other things... turning the fan off in my wife's car (and most modern cars) has the car change to 'fresh'. Pushing the 'recirculate' button turns ON the fan (and the air conditioning, if it was 'on' previously)
Why have car makers decided I am not allowed to use 'recirculate' without the fan? Why am I no longer allowed to keep the 'fresh' air turned off?
Worse, some new cars will move from 'recirculate' to 'fresh' after the fan has been on for a while. You can be sitting happily driving along, and suddenly the car is full of the revolting fumes from the truck in front of you.. because the car has decided you need 'fresh' diesel fumes in the cabin..
I am not going to attempt to re-program a modern car (worse, one still under warranty).
Why can't I choose? Why can't a button perform the one action, according to the label?
Onlyfans porn banis being driven by the new tech and content police - the banks. The company relies on banks for payments and is seeking investment.
>a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-58255865">The BBC reports that the extremely ad-hoc moderation system has allowed illegal material to remain on the site, even after it has been reported. This includes potential under-age posting, as well as videos including hidden cameras, violence, bestiality, exploitation and sex trafficking. High-yield accounts are given more strikes than smaller accounts, and many creators are advertising escort services.
Onlyfans takes 20% cut of all payments, and is seeking additional finance.
Axios reports that Onlyfans is trying to raise the money to partially cash out majority owner and porn mogul Leo Radivinsky, while providing management with what one venture capitalist calls "more legitimacy."
The investment pitch-deck did not mention pornography.
Strangely, it seems investors are not interested in investing in potentially criminal behaviour.
Youtube hasn't solved the problem of illegal and dangerous content, and Onlyfans looks like going the way of Tumblr.
Where will sex workers go next - and how will they get paid?
We've all seen it:
We're sorry, your submission "[SUBJECT]" was declined for the following reason:
Thank you for the story submission. If an editor was going to have selected it, they would have done so by now. It has, therefore, been removed from the submission queue. The editors felt it inappropriate for them to correct the issue themselves. Please feel free to correct the issue yourself and resubmit.
Why bother having the words "the following reason:" when most of the time, the submission has just 'timed out' of the queue.
Do people get reasons, or is it just a left over from when originally coded, the coder delusionaly thinking there would be enough editors to craft personalized messages of rejection?
There aren't an never will be, enough editors, and they don't have time to write messages.. so can these words be removed?
Semiconductor-Todayand Nexperia are reporting
Nexperia Newport will continue to have a strong position in the Welsh ecosystem and technology development and will secure the current jobs at the Newport site and others across the region. Nexperia was a customer of the foundry services offered by Newport Wafer Fab and became its second largest shareholder in 2019.
Newport Wafer Fab, the U.K.'s largest fab, was acquired by Chinese-owned Nexperia, for around £63 million ($87 million US) in June.
The BBC reports that the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said he had asked Sir Stephen Lovegrove to look at Nexperia's takeover of Newport Wafer Fab. The prime minister told MPs: "We are looking into it. I have asked the national security to investigate"
