I recently received one of those "We hacked you, send bitcoin to this wallet or we will publish embarrassing details that we got from the hack" emails.

What was different about this was that it offered "proof" that I had been hacked: it quoted an email address and old password. These had actually been valid at one time, but because I used a unique email address (I use "plus addressing" extensively), I could tell that the email and password had come from the LinkedIn hack.

Since the data from the LinkedIn hack is available, this wasn't some a real hack (besides which, I don't actually have the type of embarrassing data the scammers claimed I did, and, good luck hacking my Linux box). Still, it might be enough to convince some people and is an interesting new technique.

The green site seems to be dead. No new stories posted since yesterday. It's not possible to log in. It doesn't even redirect to the https site.

Anyone know what happening?
