Two firearms were stolen from the home of a California congresswoman, she said in a statement.

Rep. Karen Bass said Saturday that Los Angeles police were called after she came home the night before to find there had been a break-in.

The two firearms were safely and securely stored when they were stolen, she said. Cash, electronics and other valuables were left behind.

"It's unnerving and, unfortunately, it's something that far too many Angelenos have faced," she said.

Bass is running for mayor of Los Angeles. Her campaign released her statement.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/karen-bass-guns-stolen-from-los-angeles-home/

Of course, CBS is reporting less than half of the news.

Not only does news of the burglary at her home further illustrate that nobody is safe from the endemic crime in L.A., but it illustrates something much deeper.

Karen Bass — who’s currently running to be the Mayor of Los Angeles — is, of course, a staunch advocate of limiting the rights and taking guns out of the hands of the little people.

The number one job of the mayor is to keep Angelenos safe.

One of my top priorities will be to get guns off of our streets and out of our communities.

Gun violence has no place in our city.https://t.co/LrgZgdmQAg

        — Karen Bass (@KarenBassLA) July 22, 2022

Yet despite the public rhetoric, far-left hypocrite Karen Bass knows the truth about guns…that when seconds count, a firearm is the best tool for good to use to stop a bad person with evil in their hearts.

She knows this so deeply and fundamentally that she owns — er, owned — at least two firearms to protect herself and her family, while at the same time advocating that your family go without them. And we can thank the burglar for exposing Karen Bass’ grand hypocrisy.

In the statement, she said she called LAPD for assistance. She says two firearms were stolen, despite them being ‘safely and securely stored.’ She says nothing else was stolen from her home, despite cash, electronics, and other valuables being visible.

“It’s unnerving and, unfortunately, it’s something that far too many Angelenos have faced,” Bass stated.

The guns were registered. Bass said she bought the guns years ago for personal protection.

She remarked in a statement how the guns were purchased for self-defense…just like tens of millions of other Americans have done. Yet she wants to strip the little people of the ability to buy and own guns for the same reason.

If this kind of hypocrisy sounds familiar, it should. Bass has a long history of supporting the kind of far-left political positions that benefit and protect elites while keeping average citizens disarmed and disempowered.

Like many in California’s ruling political elite, Bass comes from the far left. In the 1970s, she travelled to Cuba with the Venceremos Brigade, an international group of sympathisers with Cuban communism. In 2016, when Fidel Castro died, she issued a praise-filled obituary to ‘El Comandante’. More recently Bass has distanced herself from this Castroite past and from policies such as defunding the police. But she can certainly be expected to follow the ‘progressive’ policy agenda typically backed by the city’s public-sector unions.

Quite obviously, the guns were NOT safely and securely stored. And, we're to believe, further, that the burglars broke in, and passed by all the other valuables in the house, just to break into a gun safe, or whatever she considers "safe and secure"??? Maybe someone needs to send Bass this link? http://www.dontlie.org/

Is Runaway telling us something, with this report of a firearm burglary that happened to another person? Could it be, that he is really talking about himself, again?

Nope, I saw the story too, but it's bogus, no way just the guns were taken. The guns were "stolen" a long time ago, but it wasn't politically expedient to report it when it happened. And probably something illegal was also taken that she can't talk about, much less report. The gun story is a distraction from what was really taken

Bingo. IANABIRL (I am not a burglar in real life) but if I went to all the trouble to break into a home, business, or whatever to steal firearms, I'd certainly help myself to cash lying about, along with any high value, easily portable items that caught my eye. I'm gonna share a lil anec-data here- I know someone whose house was broken into last year and only the guns from the basement were taken, a number of obvious valuables were overlooked. I don't remember if it was the police or the insurance company who said this but they believed the guns were targeted because they were in the basement where visits are more rare... as opposed to a bedroom or something were the owner would know pretty derned quick that it happened and call the cops that night. In other words: It wasn't clear how long those guns had gone missing. It was felt that the burglary was done that way intentionally by the perpetrators to delay the reporting as long as possible.

I dunno if that actually applies in this context, I was just nitpicking the projection-as-proof debate style used in that reply. If I say IANAL, no matter how clever I sound, it's still not legal advice you should be acting on. Same applies to IAN*.

She probably misplaced them and forgot where she had them last. Might turn up at a practice range?
Or, one of her family members borrowed them, and now that the cops are involved they aren't about to come forward.

The Tile devices were invented because women constantly lose things. I can't find my keys. I can't find my wallet. I can't find my boots. I can't find my guns. Etc. With a Tile attached to each item, women can use their cell phone to find their items. But ooops . . . I can't find my phone. Solution: have a smart watch to find your phone!

Men often have exactly one place where each item belongs. My keys / wallet / etc are all in the one specific location where they should be if they are not on my person. There are no alternate places that are acceptable to leave them.

          . . . (interruption heard from other room . . . ) I can't find my smart watch.

Duh! Tie everything you own together with a since piece of string. (Or maybe multiple strings, one for family stuff, one for house stuff, one for personal stuff, one for work stuff, etc..) Then when you lose something, just follow the piece of string until you find it.

That is sexist, Danny boy. You go ahead and pitch it however you like, but it's sexist.

Speaking for myself, there are things that I never lose. Wallet, driver's license, bank cards, cash, none of that is ever misplaced. Other stuff? Let's just say that it's embarrassing to search for your glasses, and eventually find them on your face. I've been embarrassed with other items. I once closed up a multi-meter inside of an air dryer. Searched for that thing for months, all the while suspecting that someone stole it. One day, that dryer broke down again, opened it up, and there it was, plastic case warped from the heat.

And no, I am nowhere near the worst among males for misplacing important stuff. I've worked with guys who couldn't find their own asses, if you drew a map for them.
