I hear it time and again - call 911, wait for the police, the police are trained, the police have skills that you don't have, there is no need to carry a weapon to defend yourself, trust the police. Watch the video, (age restricted, maybe safe for work, no real blood and gore that I can see) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfAHfWr6vvA titled "Denver police body camera footage shows officers shoot gunman, six bystanders in LoDo".
Yeah, that's a killer of a title, right? Six shots fired, seven people wounded, only one of whom was considered a suspect. Awesome, huh?
Story is elaborated here, https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/video-shows-denver-cops-wound-six-bystanders-in-addition-to-the-bad-guy-out-of-six-rounds-fired/
Denver police officers faced an armed bad guy who drew down on them in the midst of a busy bar crowd at 1:35 a.m. The cops engaged, firing their sidearms, scoring seven hits out of six rounds fired. That represents a remarkable 117% hit rate. The only problem is that six of the seven people who were wounded soaked up rounds meant for the bad guy.
They surely don’t appreciate DPD’s marksmanship skilles, or lack thereof.
Yes, there’s that pesky fourth rule of gun safety: Know your target and what’s beyond it. For the record, that even applies to the staple guns you’re using to put up your targets at the range. But for good guys everywhere, firing anything except carefully controlled shots at a bad actor who’s surrounded by innocents could probably be described more as negligence than exigence.
Maybe Denver Police should hire a guy like Elisjsha Dicken to coach them up on their marksmanship skills. He’s the guy without any formal training who took down a rifle-toting lunatic shooting people in a crowded mall in Indiana. Dicken scored eight hits out of ten shots fired, wounding no innocents by mistake, at up to 40 yards away.
Here’s the dirty laundry on the horrific incident from the Denver Post.
Denver police on Tuesday released surveillance video and body camera footage of three officers shooting an armed man and injuring six innocent bystanders outside busy downtown bars on July 17.
The videos for the first time show from start to finish the shooting, which will be investigated by a grand jury. Denver police officials previously made public still images they selected from the videos but denied public records requests by The Denver Post and other news outlets to release the videos in their entirety…
Denver police previously said Waddy was holding the gun by the slide on the top when the officers fired. It’s not clear if Waddy could have fired the gun while holding it that way, Cmdr. Matt Clark said at a July 20 news conference. He said the officers believed the muzzle of the gun pointed at them as Waddy pulled it out.
Two officers shot a combined five rounds while facing Waddy with the front wall of Larimer Beer Hall behind him. A third officer fired one round from Waddy’s right side and a crowd of people is visible behind Waddy in the officer’s body camera footage.
“The Department of Safety and Denver Police Department remain concerned about the health and well-being of those who were injured in this incident and will continue to offer support to aid in their healing,” the departments said in a joint statement Tuesday.
Maybe Denver’s police need to spend more time on the fundamentals of handgun safety and marksmanship and less in “woke” racial/implicit bias training.
Denver post article here https://www.denverpost.com/2022/08/16/denver-police-lodo-shooting-video/
I think this is the exact same video, there may be some minor differences. https://youtu.be/BfAHfWr6vvA
Oh yeah. Definition of a mass shooting varies from one source to another. Here we have 4 or more innocents injured as the result of a single incident. I'll call it a mass shooting, despite the fact that no one died. Well, I'll call it that this time. But I'll call out the lame stream media all the same when they inappropriately designate the next shooting as a mass shooting.
Don't you wish you lived in the city of Denver, where you can trust the highly trained cops to protect you from bad guys?
Oh - one more thing.

Did Mr. Waddy actually assault anyone, or not? This looks a lot like a "Nigga wid a gun" situation. It does NOT appear that Mr. Waddy pointed, aimed, or otherwise attempted to use his weapon - it appears that he was holding it by the slide, and tossing it away from himself, when he was struck by the first shot. "Nigga wid a gun! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG" no questions asked.

Who, exactly, said that any of the shootings by DPD was "accidental"? Firearms don't fire accidentally. You might have a negligent discharge, and all of these shots fired fit that description. The police were negligent. Criminally negligent. They fired their weapons intentionally, knowing that they couldn't predict where their shots would hit. They fired almost randomly into a crowd of people. But, most importantly, they fired intentionally. If they were all epileptic, or had some condition that caused their muscles to spasm on the trigger, something really crazy, THEN you might call these shootings "accidental". Except, it would still be negligent discharge, because it would be negligent for a person with such a condition to carry a loaded weapon.

The only police officers I've personally known are good people. That's a biased sampling of data, but it's certainly no less biased than the "journalism" we see on TV. Well, I say "we", but I really mean the average TV watcher. I've not watched TV for a very long time. There are way too many advertisements, nearly everything the news reports on is "literally everything bad that's going on today" and they're biased. Sure, we need news reporting to a certain degree, but with the advent of the cellphone camera and youtube. Pretty much everyone in the world is a potential "journalist".

I happen to think that Sis is one of the best cops. I actually witnessed her deescalating situations over the years, where a male cop would likely have only escalated things. But, she supports the police unions, and I'm dead set against them. She supports a lot of crap for police, most of which are bullshit. And she sure as HELL doesn't want to see community members or organizations doing investigations into police affairs. All of that should stay super-secret, behind closed doors, without any media coverage.
Sis could be a better cop than she is. All she would need do, is come over to my side, and insist on community involvement, and complete transparency into the force. She simply can't, or won't, understand that her positions only protect the bad cops.
