Surprises galore. No surprise who is in first, but surprised who is in second. It's also a bit surprising, some of the names that are not on that list.

I feel guilty that I'm not on the second list. I need to start doing better. Often times, comments deserve to be modded up, and I just can't be bothered. That's a crappy attitude, really. Sorry, people.

Probably should do a little more research on the actual proposals and Alaskan contract bidding practices before deciding to weight in on the Pebble Mine project. Pebble mine is worth some 15.7 Billion in profit over its life whereas a worst case scenario of losing a portion of the Bristol Bay fishing is worth 280 Million/year. I personally don't support the Pebble project because none of their work proposals so far have adequate environmental protections or shown that they would be worth the possibility of a negative outcome but it isn't worth throwing out the whole project. The most recent proposal I saw was for a series of tailing ponds on the other side of the watershed to keep future pond breaches or leaks from damaging the fishing run, I wasn't convinced but this was the pitch made before research is done into feasibility.

I really did join too late. I coulda been a contendah!

Also It would be interesting to see who has been downmodded the most (I suspect some overlap and reordering). Presumably anyone racking up huge numbers there would be proud of it anyway so prob no worries divulging.

I'll trade user id numbers with you. But I do have a pretty low number on a greenish site.

I agree- I'd like to see downmod stats, but also in general I'd like all of us to know who up or down mods us. Maybe keep that private, but I've been mod-bombed (by my definition) a few times here, for no good reason. Mod system abuse. I know most of us have been victims. I know the admins don't need more work, but maybe a few volunteers could act as referees for some moderation abuse cases.

It would be more interesting to also see the stats averaged over the time a user has been registered.

And definitely stats showing up or downmods based on number of comments. Some people comment rarely, but get lots of upmods.

The last time I went home for Christmas, my dad told me that the reason the economy is doing poorly is because all them college professors are socialists and they put bad ideas in kids heads and as a result, we are doing capitalism wrong and that's the only reason it's not working right now.

It's the college professors' fault, you see. That capitalism isn't working right.

    ...

    I...what do I even...what?!

Made even more incredible by the fact that my dad is a computer engineer. He has a college degree! He has been to a college. And he seemed to come out of it no less heinously conservative. Granted, that was 20 years ago, but still.

Your post is off topic but your father is right. Good stuff comes from people doing good work, not attending implicit bias meetings and throwing money at "outreachy" type sinks.
Look, you can go to college and find out about all crazy kind of viewpoints inbred in that environment. It should stimulate you to think. But in the real world those don't make you competitive.

Wow, I actually made it onto the stats. I'm quite surprised considering how few comments I've written compared to some of the usuals. Obviously comment count doesn't necessarily correlate with modding count.

Anyway who da fuck is "dg"? 3987 upmods and zero comments. Zero journal entries. Not suspicious in the slightest. No-sirreeeee!

If you were an admin and checked the potential mod-bombs list (it shows all the folks who've moderated someone who's up over three downmods for the given time period, default three days) regularly it wouldn't be. Lots of names there that moderate regularly but rarely comment or do up journal entries. Not having much to say isn't the same as being absent.
