democrat/republican.. We are united.. We are one!

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, the controversial Arizona Democrat who threatens to derail President Biden's legislative agenda, received more than $750,000 in donations from the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. After that, she announced her opposition to a Democratic plan to lower prescription drug costs.

You're correct that most politicians are fully on-board with the usual "corporatist" agenda and essentially do whatever the largest of their donors wan,t because yes, they're that far down that rabbit hole...

What does that have to do with "party label," though? That's seemingly much more of a "big money in politics" issue, isn't it? "Citizens United?" and all those LOLs...

Besides, I guess I can't think of a single principled politician remaining anywhere, at all, on the right-side/GOP in the US, whereas the few politicians that are actually somewhere over there, on the consituent-principled, non-corporate agenda side of the continuum like, for example, the Bernie Sanders of the world or perhaps an AOC or whatever, are seemingly all on only one side of the aisle, so I guess there's that... but I don't really see that being a party issue...

Yes, the Party. If you are in the Party, you are automatically put on the ballot. All others have to petition. This is just one of the issues that keep the incumbency at 95%, with Party (DNC/GOP) candidates getting 98% of the vote. We have to remove the advantage of incumbency, make everybody who wants to be on the ballot petition to do so, for starters... Then we gotta kill the 501c deductions, that will take care of the money issue

Politician bought by deep pocket donor....

This is nothing new. If you were to dig into any of the members of the House or Senate (except, maybe, Bernie) you'll find ample evidence of this pattern:

    1. Donor "A" with lots of money makes large contribution to politician X's campaign funds
    2. Politician X announces its opposition to bill Y which would be bad for the business that donor "A" operates

And, if you dug long enough, you'd likely find this pattern from many more than a few of them:

    1. Donor "A" donates to politician X on date Y
    2. Politician X announces opposition to bill Z which would negatively impact the business area of donor A.
    3. Donor "B", whom operates a business in opposition to donor A, donates to politician X on date Z (Z > Y)
    4. Politician X announces support for bill Z (same bill Z) which would negatively impact donor A, but would positively impact donor B (by negatively impacting donor A).

They are all guilty of the first list, and a subset of all are guilty of the steps in the second list. This is what happens when things like "Citizen's United" allowed corporations unfettered donation ability. The politicians are simply for sale to the highest bidder (donor).
