If the democrats and the republicans are all the same uniparty, then what does it matter? According to the Revealed Gospel of Fustakrakich, it's just more populace-distracting moving of deck chairs.
If the democrats and the republicans are not all the same uniparty, then it matters because we might actually see policy shifts, especially if this heralds a 2022 massacre.
Or does it matter because we should expect fewer nazi saluting tiki torch marches, and more intensely peaceful demonstrations?
Does it matter because the progressives couldn't drag the centrists, kicking and screaming into their lair?
Or does it matter because the centrists stonewalled the progressives beating drums for the aggrieved and bleeding lumpenproletariat?
Why does this matter? Or doesn't it, after all? Help us, Obi-Fusta-Krakich, you're our only guide.

This just brings us back to the parties really being what, in a proportional representation system, would have been coalitions. The democrats in Congress range from Jayapal to Sinema, and the republicans from Snowe to Gaetz.
If what the democrats have won't unite their coalition, or a chunk of their coalition plus a chunk of the republican coalition, it's just a pipe dream and we all know this. So what you're really saying is idealism-schmidealism, they need to find proposals that can pass, or just keep the wheels turning.

Until a few days ago, McAuliffe was thought to get a sure win. But then concern stated building among parents that theories born in academia out of communism and racism were infiltrating school systems. Especially in western Virginia, were the inhabitants are the designated victims of this new and virtuous racism. The "transgender" rapist story in genteel, rich, virtuous, deep state, Democrat Loudoun County didn't help. The extra turnout of voters in the west could not be fixed by massaging numbers in the east. And so the Republican won.
What's up with the Lieutenant Governor's office there? Is that a separate ticket from the Governor's office? Virginia now has its first black, female, immigrant Lt. Governor. She's Republican.
In New Jersey, Governor Masks and Lockdowns looks like he will get to serve another term. One wonders how, with the rising prices, shortages and destruction of businesses and lives that Democrat policies have brought, many suburbanites are still voting for them. But I'll bet it was a lack of just a bit of extra effort in rural counties to get the vote out, that gave the incumbent another term.
In my district, turnout was heavy, with many people concerned about taxes and education. But in the end, the majority in this rich suburb of academic families voted Democrat again. Here, where school students got a year of zoom for the teacher's "safety", while the teachers were out making big bucks on the side working as private in-person tutors for rich parents' kids.

Yep. Lt. Governor in VA is a totally separate election race from the governor election. You do not vote for "governor+Lt. Governor" as a package. You have one line item for Governor, and a second vote line item for Lt. Governor.
Virginia now has its first black, female, immigrant Lt. Governor. She's Republican.
Which just goes to show how much racism really exists in Republican voters. If the Republicans were as racist as many on the left here make them out to be, Virginia would not have it's first black, female, immigrant Lt. Governor.
What appears to have been a clean sweep of statewide offices in Virginia has energized gun owners across the country and sent a message to Democrats that pushing radical extremism is not a winning political strategy.
Now, Republicans Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Sears and Jason Miyares have been elected governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general in a clean sweep of statewide offices. Until Tuesday night, most political prognosticators were expecting a Terry McAuliffe victory. PBS News Hour posted his post-election remarks on YouTube.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said gun owners made the difference in Tuesday’s tight election victories, shepherding in “a return of common sense to the Commonwealth.”
In a state Joe Biden carried in 2020, and Democrats took over in 2019, voters evidently thought it is time for a change, especially after McAuliffe declared a few weeks ago he didn’t think parents should be involved in what their children are taught in school. It was a major blunder that enraged parents.
Gun owners were already prepared to fight, after outgoing Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam pushed through a gun control agenda in 2020 with a newly-achieved Democrat majority in the House of Delegates. Apparently, Democrats didn’t think gun control was an issue, perhaps taking for granted the public’s penchant for short memory, but this time around, it became clear from the turnout in rural counties that Commonwealth gun owners havenb’t forgotten the way they were treated last year.
According to CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “Old Dominion gun owners were not about to allow anti-gun Democrats enjoy another two years of power after what happened in January 2020.”
Even a last-minute attempt to portray Youngkin as a gun control proponent didn’t work.
“What is most gratifying,” Gottlieb said in a post-election statement, “was to see savvy gun rights voters ignore the despicable last-minute ad buy by desperate Democrats to suppress the gun vote by painting Republican Glenn Youngkin as an anti-gunner, when it is their own candidate who has a deplorable record on gun rights.”
Youngkin is a political newcomer, and his defeat of veteran politician McAuliffe, who brought in big name supporters including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Barack Obama and other prominent Democrats, amounts to a dire warning about what to expect in the midterm elections in 2022.
