A certain rich merchant was walking in the marketplace in Baghdad.
As he looked across the street he suddenly saw the figure of Death beckoning to him. The terrified man rushed home, mounted his fastest horse and rode a hundred miles to Samarra. That night there was a knock at the door of his bedroom. He opened it, and there stood Death. "Why did you beckon me in the marketplace in Baghdad today?" asked the man. "I was not beckoning you." Said Death. "I was merely surprised to see you in Baghdad, since I knew that tonight we had an appointment in Samarra."
My mind is going berserk so I'm going to take this chance to rant on this journal.
What would happen if they legalized marijuana everywhere?
What would happen if all the stop lights had pads so the light changes green when there's no cross traffic?
What would happen if the cop just ground your dime bag under his heel and let you go?
What would happen if you asked the girl out and she said yes?
What would happen if you ran out of toilet paper and there was no one there to save the day?
What would happen if you fell out of an airplane and crashed into the ground unphased and then you were destroyed by a chunk of frozen toilet waste?
What if all the Satan worshippers in the world held hands in a big pentagram and sang "Kum ba yah"?
What if there was nothing left to ask "What if" about?
I have 32 Google voice contacts. I exported them to vCard (Apple contact format) to import to iCloud.
I logged into iCloud and imported the vCard file from Google. Everything imported fine on iCloud, looking at it on my computer. My iPhone is a different story! Only 19 contacts imported. Why?
There must be something different between the contacts that import and those that didn’t, so I started digging. All the contacts that weren’t imported had a physical address field.
So I went back on iCloud and edited one of the contacts with an address field by putting the number 2 after their name and saving the contact. Then I edited the same contact and deleted the number 2 after their name and saved it again. Bam! The contact appeared on my iPhone. So I had to do that with every contact with an address.
It’s really weird how the contacts import to iCloud properly, but not the iPhone. Hopefully this helps somebody that runs into this problem or has ran into this problem and couldn’t figure it out.
I feel sorry for people with hundreds of contacts that don’t import with an address field… Yikes!
A movie made by Phill Tippett. If you combined a Quentin Tarantino movie with a Marilyn Manson video, it would be a fuckin choir boy. The NSFW (not safe for work) tag doesn't apply here. We need a not safe for anyone tag. It's the shit you wish you could unwatch. With that said, if you dare...

I was reading through some comments on Phoronix about the new Chrome Ozone busting hardware video acceleration.
The comment was about youtube-dl (or maybe also the newer yt-dlp) being combined with mpv (a fast lightweight video player).
Supposedly if you have youtube-dl in your $PATH you can do something like:
mpv https://youtubelink (in a terminal) and you can stream the videos with hardware acceleration without using a browser (well besides to find the link to the video). I haven't tried it yet, but I have an old laptop with lubuntu on it that I'm looking forward to trying this on.
If anyone else cares to try this (or already does [or prefers an alternative]) any comments are appreciated.
I broke down and got a Wi-Fi 6 router since the price dropped to $29.90 (I see now it's at $39.90 again.)
I have two laptops both Windows 10 with all updates and newest intel drivers for the ax200 wifi6 cards (I even tried removing the device/deleting driver reboot and reinstall driver... even tried a newer driver version on windows update). I tested a transfer from a wired gigabit Windows 10 share to test the file copy speeds. When copying from the Windows 10 server I got about 30-40MB/sec. When copying the same file back to the server Windows ran 30-40MB sec for about 3 seconds and then it just shit itself. The speed went to zero tried to go about 300K then back to zero and then Wifi just dies (requires disabling and enabling the device).
I tried this on both laptops, and it is the same thing.
I booted a usb stick with khali Linux to test and copied the same experiment. The transfers went 40+MB/sec both ways FLAWLESSLY!
I don't know if it's Windows 10, or the intel drivers for the ax200 laptop cards, but something is busted.
I can't believe I'm the only person that experienced this bullshit! Fix your shit Wintel (because it works perfectly in Linux)!
After releasing the specs and pricing for Nvidia's new Ampere series GPU's, it didn't take long for a bitchfest to ensue.
I have this YouTube link for all the people who would like to get a chuckle at the expense (literally) of the people who bought an Nvidia 2080 TI for $1,200.
This is fiasco that hasn't ended yet.
I decided I wanted to retrofit two of my laptops with WiFi 6. I ordered two of these intel AX200 WiFi 6 cards from eBAY on Tuesday, Mar 31, 2020. They arrived May 4th.
I went to install one, and unbeknownst to me the new cards are M.2 NGFF form factor. My laptops have Mini PCI-Express slots! So I ordered two of these NGFF to Mini PCI-Express converter cards on Tuesday, Jan 21, 2020. After over two months of waiting, I had my niece order me two more from Amazon (for about $7.00 each) with her Amazon Prime account.
I go out to check the mail that week. BOTH the Chinese cards and the Amazon cards arrived the same day! DOH!
So I install the card and go to hook up the Wi-Fi antennas. (It just keeps getting better.) The Wi-Fi antenna ports are different! The Mini PCI-Express cards use MHF4 ports and the M.2 NGFF cards use IPEX ports that are smaller.
After massive ammounts of research and Googling to try to find out what the ports were called. I ordered two sets of these MHF4 to IPEX antenna connectors. I'm sure this will be another month or two to arrive.
By the time I get these laptops retrofitted WiFi-7 will probably be out!
I hope this helps anyone thinking about retrofitting their Mini PCI-express port laptops with WiFi 6 cards.
I heard on the news today that over one billion dollars in gift cards will go unused from the holidays!
This totally blew my mind (should have gifted cash). So I have a few questsions:
Have you ever given a gift card? Did the person use it?
Have you ever received a gift card? Did you use it? Have you received gift cards that you've used and some that you have not?
What do you think about gift cards? Have you ever re-gifted a gift card? Why not gift cash?
Think about the billion dollar waste the next time you think about giving a gift card!
I looked at this chart on www.tarblock.com and did some math. Here are the percentages of:
Total Particulate Matter (all the shitty particles in the smoke)
CO (carbon monoxide)
Water
Nicotine
Tar
With a Tarblocker compared to a cigarette without a tarblocker.
Total Particulate Matter
2.55681818181818%
Carbon Monoxide
5.44117647058824%
Water
2.10084033613445%
Nicotine
3.65591397849462% (This is the bummer! With a tarblocker you only get 3.6% of the nicotine of a cigarette without a tarblocker.)
Tar
2.65734265734266%
Too bad it takes out so much nicotine (that's what we're after right?). I welcome and look forward to any comments about these statistics.
