Meduza.io is a Russian/English news website. It has now been blocked by Russia's Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies, and Mass Communications) inside Russia. Roskomnadzor is the same agency that has it declared unlawful to call the Russian invasion in Ukraine either an invasion or a war.

They're not the only ones suffering this fate: here is a list of Russia's independent press outlets that have been blocked in recent days.

Being based in Latvia, Meduza thinks it can circumvent the blockade. However, ninety percent of the donations that keep the site alive came from within Russia. That stream of funds is now blocked, and they request help from international donors.

That's about all I wanted to say, or ask, in this journal entry. If considering a donation (or not), you might want to read the following articles first: Why no mass protests in Russia? and Putin's last stand: how to lose a war by simply starting one.

That last link above on Putin's last stand [meduza.io] is right on point, +1 Insightful.

There are plenty of great articles there, including Fantasy is not history: Historian Victoria Smolkin assesses Putin’s claim that modern-day Ukraine is a ‘gift’ from the Bolsheviks [meduza.io] and No to War: An editorial from Meduza [meduza.io]

There isn't a whole lot beyond moral support that most of us in "the rest of the world" can actually do to help the current situation, contribute in some way to the cause, but financially supporting a media outlet like this is one of the things we actually CAN do!

I, like many people, don't have a lot of "extra" money, especially right now, but I'm making a donation via PayPal to this particular worthy cause!

The link to the English language donation page is here: https://support.meduza.io/en [meduza.io]

Anyone else contributing has my personal +1 Gratitude.

Please also post any links to other similar media organizations who are valiantly attempting to get information about what is really going on into the news vacuum of Russia which may also deserve our support. There aren't very many things we can do, but this is one of them.
