This time there are some specs.
That Lenovo tablet with HDMI input is official, and it's a monster media machine
The chunky 13-inch tablet uses a 2K resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio LCD screen, and an aluminum body with a bit of Alcantra trim. Underneath is a Snapdragon 870, a surprisingly high-end processor for a tablet, paired with a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The rear seems to go without any kind of camera (which makes sense: when's the last time you needed a tablet for photos and didn't have a much better smartphone nearby?) but it has an 8MP front-facing camera with face unlock.
[...] As of now, the Yoga Pad Pro is only confirmed for the Chinese market, where it goes on sale May 31st for 3299 yuan (a little more than $500 USD). Whether Lenovo will release it internationally is anyone's guess; the company's Tab P11 Pro is in the same range, but with a much tighter focus on work, not entertainment.
It would be nice to eventually see this capability come to all tablets (including budget landfill tier and smaller sizes), with either a microHDMI or USB-C port.

That's better than my UPS.
If I ever see one, I'm buying it

Your UPS will have a 12v lead acid battery, not a 3.7v Li-ion.
Comparing watt-hours is obviously a better way to compare actual power
A typical battery in a very basic, small UPS is a single 7-8 Ah (typically rated at the 20h rate, but we'll ignore that for now) battery with 6 x 2v cells, or about 84-96 Watt-hours, and will run your computer or whatever for, say 10 minutes, allowing enough time to make it through short outages or shutdown cleanly if it is more than a few moments long. A single 10 Ah lithium-ion cell is only about 37-40 Wh and is intended to run that tablet for many hours to several days, but I assume you know all this already and were just being deliberately obtuse. ;)

Obtuse? So harsh! Facetious, maybe.
I like their tablets for that grippy thingy it has along the side to make it easy to hold with one hand. The two way ports are long overdue

Good to see someone is finally aping the Notion Ink Adam [the-ebook-reader.com]. Add in TCL's NXTPAPER [goodereader.com] or something similar and we could have a replacement after waiting twelve years.

The tablet form factor w/cell connection is really useful for many working situations, but not as compelling for personal use. The portable screen aspect is nice, and could definitely be convenient, but many of these "convergence" technologies seem to be lacking OS's capable of truly using the potential in the setup. If I could ditch laptops and desktops for a few peripheral devices which seamlessly and securely connected and leveraged their networked resources to create more capable systems when required... that would be really nice.
Are there any distributed computing projects out there that aren't plan9/inferno?
