The Breakthrough Listen project discovered what is called a Fast Radio Burst while scanning the skies from Australia as part of the biggest search for extra terrestrial life in the Milky Way and nearby stars.
Breakthrough Listen scientist Danny Price said it was exciting when the burst from billions of light years away was picked up, but it was unlikely aliens were behind it.
[...] It is not the first burst to be detected, with the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope picking up the first one in 2001.
The bursts last for about a millisecond, and sound like an ambulance driving past when picked up by special receivers.

A fast radio burst is not exactly new, although we have heard the "aliens cause FRBs when they turn on their warp drive" argument.
This just shows that Breakthrough Listen is funding radio astronomy beyond what governments care to, even if they never find the evidence of extraterrestrial communications that they are looking for.

Can't wait for this to trickle down to Ancient Aliens and how this is a sure sign of the coming Aliens invasion ... Ancient Astronaut theorists say YES ...

Yep.
I gave up on History Channel when they got Ancient Aliens.
I gave up on Discovery Channel when they had a "Science" program promoting Homeopathy.
I almost gave up on CNN when they said nothing about SOPA until after the internet went dark, and the story became too big to ignore. I actually gave up on CNN when I saw how brazenly one sided their coverage of Snowden was.
Then I gave up on cable TV and have not looked back.
So how will I hear about alien civilizations now that I don't have cable tv?

The aliens will wait until a rival civilization perfects VR, then start inserting anal probes mid-game.

You could use radio astronomy to search for signs of intelligent media bouncing off the Moon.

There is no intelligent signal bouncing off the moon. Any signal bouncing off the moon originates either:
1. From an alien civilization, but is too weak, especially after bouncing off the moon, for us to detect.
-OR-
2. Is media from Earth, and therefore does not qualify as intelligent.

I am not an alien "nut". A claim of aliens definitely needs extraordinary proof. Evidence that is compelling and not explained by any simpler more likely alternative cause. Proof that even the most skeptical will not deny.
I merely want to point out that one day, even when actual aliens, are upon our doorstep, someone will still say . . . "unlikely aliens were behind it".
Just as there are "flat earthers", there will be "alien deniers".
