Cash injected into the thriving tech sector from Europe jumped to a record high of £1.89 billion in 2018, up from £1.66 billion in 2017, according to new data from law firm Penningtons Manches.

The number of tech deals involving European funds rose marginally to 150 last year, compared to 149 deals in 2017, while the value of the deals rose by 14 percent, as the average investment size boomed.

The EU remains confident in the long-term prospects of the sector in the UK, the firm said, as the value of deals involving at least one EU investor rose to £1.53 billion, from £1.26 billion in 2017.

[...] The US remains the largest overseas investor in UK companies, with a third of the total funds secured by British firms coming from US backers. Silicon Valley remains a key source of investment, with 101 deals involving cash from the west coast of America.

Brexit Party is not about, "oh, let's be Nazis!" It's the opposite. Nazis want Europe to be like one big country. They're the European Open Boarders people. The Globalists. Hitler brought Europe together with his army & air force. Donald Tusk (no relation) is doing it with Treaties. Brexit Party is about, let's close UK boarder with Europe. And cancel UK Treaty with Europe. Total total opposite. And the polls are very favorable for Brexit Party to win in the Europe Election that is coming up soon. And that's May 23rd. It did not actually happen.

The brits got a second (six months this time)deferral. Which is why they're going back to not doing anything about it for 5 months, then 1 month of dysfunctional panic.

So now they're gonna literally have an EU election between declaring they were leaving because of "uncollected EU bureaucrats" and actually leaving.

The term Brexit refers both to the process of leaving the EU, and the final action of actually leaving. The forecast made by many pundits was that, as soon as the UK voted to leave, jobs would suffer (they haven't, they are currently the best employment figures for a decade), the currency would collapse (it has lost value but it has been in far worse states and survived without problem) and that investment in the UK would cease (the car industry in particular is closing some plants but the Japanese owners are saying that his is because of poor sales of diesel vehicles and a move in production to electric powered cars in Japan). So this announcement would suggest that investment (in the tech area at least) hasn't yet suffered from the announcement of the UK's intention to leave the EU.

"the best employment figures for a decade" are, with high probability, an indicator of an impending recession. The only indicator that's statistically better is the yield curve flattening/inverting. And the yield curve is practically flat now. I notice the property market has started to slump, and we're not even in a property bubble this time - if so many people have so many jobs is a good thing, don't you think some might revel in their new-found ability to buy their own place, or move to somewhere a bit larger?

I wasn't suggesting that things were all rosy, just that some of the doom and gloom forecasts have proven to be incorrect so far. The ailing car industry and the weak pound are other indications that things are not as good as some of the over-optimistic forecasts were either.

You're very Politically Biased -- and it shows. Somebody asked, "oh, did Brexit actually happen?" Somebody else -- an obvious Dem -- tweeted back, "no, UK hasn't left." 100% true and something everybody knows. And I said, that's right. I agreed. And said, there's a lot of Fake News on your Site. A lot. So you jumped on me. You come in with the "correction." Not to "correct" the terrible headline. Not to "correct" the Dem. You had to "correct" me. Because you don't like my politics. But it's not a correction, it's a Fake correction. Also known as, wrong. They haven't voted to leave. They tried to. UK "people" voted, very strongly, that they WANT to leave. But, that's not how it works. That's not the rules and that one was a Fake vote. Same way that our General Election doesn't decide the President. That one doesn't go by the so-called Popular Vote. Sometimes referred to as, Referendum. It does by the real vote -- Electoral College. And the real vote for Brexit is supposed to be done by their Congress -- often referred to as Parliament. People don't know, they tried to do that one. They tried over and over. But, weak & ineffective Theresa May keeps sending them very dumb plans. And UK Parliament keeps telling her "no." Very strongly and they're telling her to quit. She should quit, immediately. Or ask Nigel -- often referred to as the Father of Brexit -- to present his plan.

And, maybe Theresa's incompetence hasn't totally tanked their Economy. People still want to eat. Still want to sleep. Still want to watch TV. But, look what happened to their electric. They ran out of Coal for their electric. And they haven't had any for a week. Too bad for the folks that want to eat, their Fridges & Stoves quit working. Too bad for the ones that sleep, their Alarm Clocks quit working. And too bad for the ones that like TV -- no electric. So sad. foxnews.com/world/uk-has-first-week-without-burning-coal-for-electricity [foxnews.com]

There was the story about the wonderful Microsoft Browser. Where the Story Submitter made a little joke at the expense of, Systemd. You're favorite Cyber Software. And that one, for a little while, made it to the Front, or Main "Page." Another Editor let that one through. Not for long. Not for long. You couldn't stop yourself from "correcting" (erasing) that one. And I think you didn't want to stop yourself. You called it a "correction," you said, "oh, the Editors love to make corrections, we're correcting all the time." Because, oh that's humor, it's not correct, we can't have that.

And you say, "oh, Donald J. Trump doesn't understand" this story. And possibly, I don't. Possibly no one does. Because you wrote a terrible headline. Which you could, very easily, "correct." And say ".....despite Failure to Brexit." Or, "....despite Brexit Referendum" (almost 3 years ago). Or, "....despite Article 50 In Vocation." Whatever the hell you meant. You haven't corrected it. It still says "...despite Brexit." Theresa said one thing I agree with -- BREXIT MEANS BREXIT. Which has not happened. You said Brexit, that's what people responded to. Many people and it says a lot that you replied to me. And I think a lot of times, the Editors & the Site Owners like it when the stories are badly written. It gives folks something to talk about. More Eye Balls, more "clicks." 2 Paragraphs to not correct this one. For a non correction.

And there's another story with no "correction." TOTALLY WRONG and possibly the folks that get fooled by that one will waste a lot of money. I'm talking about, the Git Ransom. Fake headline says people's cyber is getting "wiped." Fake summary says their cyber is getting deleted -- which I think, that's another way to say wiped. I said, that's totally false, look at the other Sub. Which by the way was the 1st. And I said, look at the Article. Same article that says wiped, that says deleted -- bottom of Article says the opposite. Saying, here's how to "recover." Saying, relax, your cyber is O.K. But, nobody read the Article. They Down Modded me and called me dumb names -- for telling the truth. And, nobody corrected that horrible Fake story. Same thing that happened on this one. Soylent News, so often, is Fake News. And the Editors -- and others -- are very proud of that. Sad!!!

I had a similarly cynical reaction. As someone who lives in a poor-ish EU nation, I notice how much the EU invests in us, partially at the UK's expense. So if the EU's now investing more in the UK, doesn't that imply it thinks that the UK's likely to become one of us poorer nations?

Investment into UK’s booming tech sector leapt to a record high of £1.89 billion in 2018...

That's a pretty tiny number when you consider the UK economy is something like £1.43 trillion.

In fact that number is so low it almost sounds like it's just a few hobbyists.

I checked, and it turns out the UK spent £5.2 billion last year on gardening, just to give a bit of context. Here's a source. [everyday-loans.co.uk] I'm sure there are better ones.
