Breaking: Met police confirm that Julian Assange has been arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy.
Mr Assange took refuge in the embassy seven years ago to avoid extradition to Sweden over a sexual assault case that has since been dropped.
The Met Police said he was arrested for failing to surrender to the court.
Ecuador's president Lenin Moreno said it withdrew Mr Assange's asylum after his repeated violations to international conventions.
But WikiLeaks tweeted that Ecuador had acted illegally in terminating Mr Assange's political asylum "in violation of international law".
[...] Scotland Yard said it was invited into the embassy by the ambassador, following the Ecuadorian government's withdrawal of asylum.
After his arrest for failing to surrender to the court, police said he had been further arrested on behalf of US authorities under an extradition warrant.
He doesn't look happy, to say the least.
Update: As this is a breaking story, more information is coming out regularly - one source that updates their reports frequently is Zero Hedge - thanks boru!

Whatever happened to that deadman switch Assange said he had?
Wasn't there some encrypted file out there whose key would be released if he was ever taken into custody?
Is it a bluff?
If not, what's in it?
Could it be the hacked Republican emails that, by some totally-not-suspicious coincidence, never got leaked?

I'm more wondering whatever happened to Anthony Weiner's laptop:

Here we are, more than two years later and Donny "Lock her up" Trumpster has had control of the DOJ and FBI for most of that time.
How come there haven't been those mass arrests based on the Wiener laptop that the FBI supposedly has.
I'll also note that all the "information" in your quote was anonymously sourced. Gee, I wonder why?
Man! You're either incredibly gullible or are promoting a narrative that supports your "side."
If there's info on that laptop that shows criminal activity by Clinton or anyone else, I want to know about it and I want all culpable parties prosecuted, regardless of their party affiliation, to the fullest extent of the law. And *I* voted for HRC.
If there was anything there, the Trump DOJ would have been all over it.
You're either a shill, a moron or both.

I would never vote for a republicrat. It seems like every single thing they say is a lie.
I do hope some of them go on trial for their crimes though.
Supposedly they are waiting for:
1) Mueller to finish because it would get characterized as "obstruction"
2) To use as talking points for the 2020 election
3) To appoint more (supreme court and other) judges (look at what happened with that Smollet guy...)
But maybe it is all BS, just like the russia collusion "scandal" is BS. Just more fake news to district everyone as they insider trade, etc.

The arrest was timed to prevent him from POSSIBLY hitting a physical button:
Assange's arrest was designed to make sure he didn't press a mysterious panic button he said would bring dire consequences for Ecuador [thisisinsider.com]
There have been various insurance files. Some of them are probably obsolete. And it's not like Assange has been killed off here. Maybe nothing will be released unless he dies.
