Governor Rick Scott (R) has declared a state of emergency in the county where the University of Florida lay, due to a planned speech by Richard Spencer. According to NPR:

When Hurricane Irma was bearing down on Florida last month, Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency. On Monday, he did the same thing in Alachua County, ahead of a speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

"We live in a country where everyone has the right to voice their opinion, however, we have zero tolerance for violence and public safety is always our number one priority," Scott said in a statement. "This executive order is an additional step to ensure that the University of Florida and the entire community is prepared so everyone can stay safe."

"I find that the threat of a potential emergency is imminent," Scott declared in his executive order, noting that Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell had requested the state's assistance. The order will make it easier for various agencies to coordinate a security plan for Thursday's speech at the university.

[...] No campus group invited Spencer to speak, and the university is not hosting or sponsoring the event. Spencer's group, the National Policy Institute, is paying the university $10,564 for facility rental and security.

And it looks like it could get expensive:

The speech and accompanying protests are also a major expense: The university as well as state and local agencies expect to spend more than $500,000 to provide additional security.

And the University of Florida can't demand that Spencer pay the full cost of protecting him, because of a 1992 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Forsyth County v. Nationalist Movement.

In that decision, the university explains, "the Court clarified that the government cannot assess a security fee on the speaker based upon the costs of controlling the reaction of potential hostile onlookers or protestors," under legal doctrine known as the "heckler's veto."

Well, that is the cost of free speech in a free country.

Threats are speech. Not responding to a credible threat is suicidal behaviour.

It's obvious you're a white supremacist. People need protecting from you. Ask yourself if I'm still civilized if I threaten to burn down your house - or tell everyone that you deserve a good hanging because everyone knows everyone with a username starting with a vowel downmods everyone with a username that doesn't. Still high on your "all speech should be free" delusion? Or would I actually have to threaten your life in person to make you think clearly?

Um. Since when has the so called white supremacist Richard Spencer actually threatened anyone? Direct quote with context and/or primary source please.
The fact is you lefties make up lies in order to justify your demonization of the alt-right.

"Nice home you got there, shame if something happened to it."

Now imagine the same without quotes. If you didn't feel threatened, you're to stupid to breathe because it would be a threat. Whether or not you got intimidated would depends on A, how much information you think I can get about you, B, what kind of person you think I am (and what kind of people I associate with), and C, what my travel budget is.

If you think your black neighbour is inferior and don't belong on your block, that's your issue. But if you come to a place with a sign that says "trashtalking blacks welcomed here instead of getting you fired" and talk with five people on your block about the good old days of lynching, and what trees work best these days, it's your neighbour's issue, and the place that put up that sign is as much to blame as you are if you take action.

Ask Kurt Eichenwald if Spencer isn't a threat. Directing from the back doesn't make someone innocent, it makes them responsible.

Spencer, who is called a white supremacist because he is one, has spent the past few decades finding ways to give misogynists and racists platforms to communicate on. He's as much a threat to society as someone leaving kerosene and flare guns at the coffee table ouside a pyromaniac group therapy session.

Apologizing for racists instead of shutting them down says a lot about you. "But da free speek" shows that you've got nothing coherent to defend the position with. Bye, Felicia.

Damn, arcz! So you actually are a Nazi! Well, not alone here, we have VLM, who is a straight up white supremacist and authoritarian, but still bothered about that "socialist" thing in the National Socialist thing. Or jmorris, who is just so kneejerk anti-anything slightly left, like laws against child-molestation, that he often sides with Nazis. And of course, khallow, who thinks intelligence, and hence the right to wealth, is hereditary, so he is kind of a Nazi, except that, well, there is the whole Trump sons issue. And finally, you have to support of TMB! The one Soylentil who can go by a TLA (Three Letter Acronym)! Of course he is not a Nazi, his bloodline would disqualify him, but he is right up there in defending the rights of the intellectually disabled to make fools of their selves, which we at SoylentNews are more than willing to extend to you.
Please answer these totally innocuous questions, that are not at all aimed at determining whether you are a racist Nazi or not:
How do you feel about Black Livers Matter?
Do Blacks commit more crimes than Whites?
Are Hispanics not as smart as European races, and so should be kept in janitorial jobs?
Have you ever had sex with an Aardvark?
      Is jy 'n rassistiese bastard?

And, we know you are mod-banned for a month. You may be modded down, for being a Nazi, and you will not be able to retaliate. But just remember this: in the large scheme of things, SoylentNews is small potatoes, just like your. . . Sorry, did not mean to go there. Fascist.

You failed to answer the question. You're a pathetic loser who likes to libel and slander people without any evidence to backup your claims.
