Controversy is nothing new when it comes to systemd. Many people find this new Linux init system to be inherently flawed in most ways, yet it is still gaining traction with major distros like Arch Linux, openSUSE, Fedora, and soon both Ubuntu and Debian GNU/Linux. The adoption of systemd for Debian 8 "Jessie" has been particularly fraught with strife and animosity.

Some have described the systemd adoption process as having been a "coup", while others are vowing to stick with Debian 7 as long as possible before moving to another distro. Others are so upset by what they see as a complete betrayal of the Debian and open source communities that there is serious discussion about forking Debian. Regardless of one's stance toward systemd, it cannot be argued that it has become one of the most divisive and disruptive changes in the long history of the Debian project, threatening to destroy both the project and the community that has built up around it.

Systemd is the linux/unix equivalent of the Holocaust. It's a 'there's one right choice' solution to the citizenry of a 'nation', the elimination of existing minorities who were influential in the shaping of the history of the illustrious nation and a condemnation of much or all of their potential for future improvements. It is the will of an 'influential minority' convincing the majority of what is good for them while silencing any similiarly influential opinions and focusing the peoples rage on groups they are willing to hate to subvert their democratic process.

A blog is Lennart Poettering's Mein Kampf, Redhat is his NSGWP, Debian's current 'inner circle' is his SS, and Ubuntu/Fedora are his Hitlerjungend.

All hail the rise of the 4th Reich, for it is they who know best and they who shall control the world!

As Godwin would have it, the moment you compare someone to Hitler you've lost. In this instance however - you win.

...do we all lose, because those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it. And since the people snowballing the current systemd situation are all far to young to remember this firsthand, having neither cracked open a history book nor asked their, no doubt now deceased, forebears about the situations which they had lived through since the turn of the 21st century. The consequences of an uneducated majority being that against the protestations of an educated minority and a 'more agreeable' minority, educated or not, the sheeple will always choose the latter.

Not actually true. Godwin's Law simply states "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

So there must be a wealthy businessman who's keeping a secret list of machines that will be spared from the devastation of systemd?
