United States Sells Unique Wu-Tang Clan Album Forfeited by Convicted Hedge Fund Manager Martin Shkreli

Defendant Forfeited His Interest in the Album, "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin," Following Conviction for Engaging in Securities Fraud Schemes

Proceeds from the Sale Will be Applied to Forfeiture Money Judgment Against Shkreli

United States Sells Unique Wu-Tang Clan Album Forfeited by Convicted Hedge Fund Manager Martin Shkreli

Earlier today, the United States sold the sole copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" (the "Album") which had previously been ordered to be forfeited as a substitute asset in connection with the approximately $7.4 million forfeiture money judgment (Forfeiture Money Judgment) entered against Shkreli at his March 2018 sentencing. Proceeds from the sale of the Album will be applied to satisfy the outstanding balance owed on the Forfeiture Money Judgment. The contract of sale contains a confidentiality provision that protects information relating to the buyer and price.

I'm sure after this, Martin Shkreli will have learned his lesson.

"Through the diligent and persistent efforts of this Office and its law enforcement partners, Shkreli has been held accountable and paid the price for lying and stealing from investors to enrich himself. With today's sale of this one-of-a-kind album, his payment of the forfeiture is now complete," stated Acting U.S. Attorney Kasulis.

I'm sure they can let Martin Shkreli go free now.

The US isn't too keen on disclosing how much it steals annually from its citizens through asset forteitures.

Yeah, but there's sort of a principle that government sales of assets should be by public auction to avoid corruption. You can keep the buyer(s) secret, but the auction and price paid should be public.

Wu-Tang albums are aural-aids. Shkreli definitely deserved it. They should have sent the smirking, psychopathic shithead to Gitmo and played him the album full blast for the duration of his sentence. There's no cruel and unusual punishment in karma, .

How does this help fixing the clusterfuck that is American healthcare?

Some people simply do not want health care fixed.

      1. Regulate it more.
      2. Require universal coverage, even if it is not a single payer system.
      3. Everyone must be eligible to be covered at some level of coverage / cost, even those who smoke or masturbate.

Item 1 should not be necessary. But 'capitalism' run amok has made it necessary. Like having laws against toxic pollution, I wish it were unnecessary, it should be unnecessary.

Item 2 is because people without insurance go to the ER for routine treatment, thus making the insured actually pay for their care. Hospitals have to inflate costs for the insured to make up the difference for treating the uninsured.

Item 3 is to enable item 2.

Various combinations of fixes are fought tooth and nail to keep the system broken.

Shkreli is not getting out soon. His crime was never hiking the price of some drug or engaged in securities fraud.

His crime was telling people that Hillary Clitton had an incurable disease. He also made a joke about getting a hair from her head (pubes?) to prove that she had the disease.

Shkreli is kind of an expert in diseases, that is why they call him the pharma-bro. He figured out that the Hillary Clitton had the particular disease and told people about it.

Hillary Clitton was not happy and had him sent to prison.

The buying party also agrees that at any time during the stipulated 88 year period, the seller may legally plan and attempt to execute one (1) heist or caper to steal back Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, which, if successful, would return all ownership rights to the seller. Said heist or caper can only be undertaken by currently active members of the Wu-Tang Clan and/or actor Bill Murray, with no legal repercussions.
