I never got addicted to caffeine. In the past, I might occasionally drink something caffeinated, but ever since I learned that caffeine is addictive, I stopped, and only drink caffeinated drinks for medicinal purposes, i.e., on the rare occasion when I haven't had a good night's sleep, or the even rarer occasion when I have diarrhea (tea and Coke will do wonders for that).
When it's time to wake up, I simply open my eyes and get up. If I need a pick-me-up during the day, I'll eat something. No need for caffeine in either case.
Some people claim that they drink coffee because it tastes great, but that is the addiction speaking. Lots of things taste great, but you wouldn't eat or drink any of them every single day of your adult life. Personally, I never found the taste of coffee particularly appealing. Perhaps that too, is because I never got addicted to it.
