    Nobody else seems to have reported the problem and I can see them all, so it sounds as if it might be something specific to your account. I have checked your settings and there doesn't appear to be anything unusual about them. I will have to dig a bit deeper....

    Please let me know if it repeats on other stories.

    Yeah, and I haven't changed anything here in ages.

    Well, I'll keep an eye out... so far this is the only page where I've seen it, so I'm thinking it's specific to this discussion, and to the spate of you-know-who. Maybe something in the function of restricting comments to logged-in users?
