Humans could soon be having sexual relationships with robots, a top academic has claimed.

Dr Helen Driscoll said advances in technology mean the way in which humans interact with robots is set to change drastically in the coming years.

Dr Driscoll, a leading authority on the psychology of sex and relationships, said 'sex tech' was already advancing at a fast pace and by 2070, physical relationships will seem primitive.
...
She said: "Most people successfully integrate other forms of virtual reality into their lives, but virtual sex - not to mention love - will be seen by some as infidelity, and this will present real challenges to some relationships.

"In the world of the future, we could well see human relationships increasingly conducted entirely online.

Would you feel cheated on if your partner had sex with a robot?

Would you feel cheated on if your partner had sex with a robot?

R9K hopes for "no". You know you were expecting a joke along those lines.

Somewhat more seriously there's a continuum of desirability and you got "perfect ideal partner (good luck finding one)" then "only perfect sometimes aka formulaic hollywood romantic comedy plot" then "some boring hyper conformist Stacy clone" then "freakshow, but at least probably human" then maybe "hire an escort", then maybe clones will fit here in this slot, then futuristic robots, finally /r/gonewild meets hand or toy. The border isn't too high, so sure, robots will be out there, although not as cool social level as online hookup sites or hiring an escort, or well, pretty much anything other than hands and toys will be socially considered "better" than a robot.

Whats missed is the attached social commentary and leftist symbolism BS. The point of a movie like Cherry 2000 or endless press about sexbots today isn't that we'll bang robots in the future, but that middle class white suburb fashion/fad oriented girls with no individual personality that are interchangeable clones of each other, aka the proverbial Stacy, are boring, therefore contemporary chicks should dye their hair purple and hook up with other women or horses or german shepherds meanwhile guys should be doing something exciting like other dudes or goats and most importantly there should be no shame about it. The point of Cherry 2000 isn't that we'll all bang robots but that the american ideal is boring and we should all turn into freakshows. Because nothing displays true rebellion like slavish conformity to imaginary rebellion, insert anecdote about me being the only guy my age or younger in the entire Fing country without tattoos or piercings because the "rebels" all got identical Chinese character tattoos that when translated by hanzismatter online, actually mean small shrimp egg roll. And the point of it being social commentary leftist BS is pushing the idea not that its observing how it is, how we don't meet ideals, but how we shouldn't have any ideals at all, because its easier for authoritarian dictatorships to control populations without ideals or goals or desires.

Wow, that is a good line, like should be taught in schools good. Just the right amount of sarcasm even.
