The universe is going to be around for a long time, but humans will likely not be around for the vast majority of it. This clock, built with logic gates within Minecraft, ticks the eons away via exponentially increasing "pulses", culminating in the opening of a door around the time the universe will reach thermodynamic equilibrium -- when time itself will die, and every moment will be like every other that will follow.

And heat death is FAR from assured. Its possible we could have heat death OR the so called "dark matter/energy" that is pushing everything away from each other will give out, in which case gravity would take over and we could have a "big crunch", there are some theorists that think this may be cyclical, from big bang to expansion to big crunch. Then there are others but once you get into strings and multiple dimensions my brain threatens to asplode so I won't get into those.

So while this IS very cool to be cooked up in Minecraft (and thanks to the poster who put up Minetest, I'll fire it up first day off I get) just remember that heat death is only one of several theories currently being discussed.
