Apple Gives Deep State Access To Roger Stone’s iCloud Account

Full title: Apple Gives Deep State Access To Roger Stone’s iCloud Account, After Refusing To Violate Privacy of San Bernardino Terrorists [thegatewaypundit.com]. The point being: Apple said that providing access to the terrorists' accounts would be a bad precedent. Yet, somehow, provided access in this case isn't?

To turn this discussion more technical: Why is the data not encrypted with a key that can only be unlocked by the user, and therefore inaccessible to Apple? As a company that claims to be concerned with user privacy, that's how they ought to implement it.
