and, of course, their stock jumped like crazy.

This reminds me of when Kodak tried to get into Crypto which also temporarily got their stock to jump. Could be a pump and dump for their stock price (maybe someone planned this to benefit) where Kodak is just jumping onto whatever the recent bandwagon is again to get their stock up and make money like they did with crypto.
