Russia arrests cybersecurity expert on treason charge:

The founder of one of Russia’s largest cybersecurity companies has been arrested on suspicion of state treason and will be held in a notorious prison run by the security services for the next two months, a Moscow court said on Wednesday.

The charges against Ilya Sachkov, founder of Group-IB, are classified and details of them were not immediately clear. State-run news agency Tass cited an anonymous source who said Sachkov denied passing on secret information to foreign intelligence services.

[...] Dmitry Peskov, president Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, told reporters on Wednesday that Sachkov’s arrest “had nothing to do with the business and investment climate in our country,” according to Interfax.

“He was in a grey area because of the industry he worked in. The secret services consider cybersecurity to be part of their territory. So either he crossed a line, or he crossed somebody’s interests,” said a person who has worked with Sachkov.

[...] In 2019, a court sentenced a former top FSB[*] cyber security official to 22 years on treason charges for passing information along to the US. A former senior executive at Kaspersky Lab, Russia’s top cyber security firm, was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the same case, details of which were not made public.

[*] Federal Security Service. Ever wonder how "Federal Security Service" is translated into "FSB" instead of "FSS"?

Wikipepida elaborates (emphasis added):

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB RF; Russian: Федеральная служба безопасности Российской Федерации (ФСБ), tr. Federal'naya sluzhba bezopasnosti Rossiyskoy Federatsii, IPA: [fʲɪdʲɪˈralʲnəjə ˈsluʐbə bʲɪzɐˈpasnəstʲɪ rɐˈsʲijskəj fʲɪdʲɪˈratsɨɪ]) is the principal security agency of Russia and the main successor agency to the Soviet Union's KGB. Its main responsibilities are within the country and include counter-intelligence, internal and border security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of grave crimes and federal law violations. It is headquartered in Lubyanka Square, Moscow's center, in the main building of the former KGB. According to the 1995 Federal Law "On the Federal Security Service", the director of the FSB is appointed by and directly answerable to, the president of Russia.

Treasonous security experts get gender reassignment surgery at government expense.

Why would the same crooks that sign-off what passes as "medical care" in the prison system, let alone the various kinds of torture and, of course, executions, decide to draw attention to themselves by raising issues on ethics, medical coverage and tax payer's money?

As for why gender-reassignment is paid by the tax payers, it's simple: Labeling gender and sex status as medical allows the government to discriminate against LGBTs. For instance, some branches of government require all LGBT applicants to go through psychiatric review. They get away with this since it's statistically proven LGBTs have higher likelihood of other psychiatric conditions and personality disordered*. And who does those reviews? You guessed it. The same people that sign-off 14yr/olds as medically competent to be trialed for murder.

So, from the government's p.o.v, a half-dozen gender-reassignments per-year is a small price to pay for the latitude in keeping a whole minority group - and a strongly personal-liberties-minded group one at that - away from high-ranking government jobs that influence policies.

*Of course, the higher likelihood can be explained as parents often sending their kids to shrinks when they come out so minor stuff that generally goes un-diagnosed ends up on their medical records...

If the USA had proper universal medical care then anyone could access free gender reassignment regardless of their status as a government employee.

The broader question is why Brad didn't feel comfortable in her own name and her own body without taking hormones and changing her name and genitalia. Why is their such pressure in the USA to conform to such gender influidity?

    1. investigate hacking, malware, and general cyber security issues.

    2. identify malware/hacking attempt as government-sourced - your own government/TLA (or even a different country's TLA)

3a. Tell someone ->> fame, fortune, infamy, arrest - or just disappear
    or
    3b. Do nothing.

BUT even if you do nothing, someone, somewhere will 'know" about your find (either through their own 'research' or because someone you know told them.

So do nothing ->> fame, fortune, infamy, arrest - or just disappear

If what you find is important enough* then your two options become

3a. Tell someone ->> fame, fortune, infamy, arrest, Epsteined, - or just disappear
      or
      3b. Do nothing.
