Hashem Shaabani, poet and human rights activist has been executed by hanging for "waging war on God". Other charges were "sowing corruption on earth, propaganda against the Islamic Republic and acting against national security." He was arrested with other four Arabs in early 2011 and the reason is believed to be their role in promoting Arab cultural activities. In December 2011 there has been a televised documentary featuring their confessions to being part of an armed Arab terrorist group. Human rights groups said these confessions were coerced under torture. In mid 2012 revolutionary court sentenced him to death and on in January 2013 this decision has been confirmed by Iranian supreme court.

They have been executed after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani approved the sentences.

So Iran isn't getting better after all?
