A case for albedo uncertainty

Rejected submission by hubie at 2014-02-18 05:05:49
Science
Even casual observers to climate change discussions can roughly describe the basic issues, namely, the Earth's radiation balance is altered by atmospheric "greenhouse gases" that promote warming. However, a major contributor to this energy balance is the albedo, or how much radiation gets reflected back into space. As it turns out, albedo also is one of the least understood properties of the Earth. In the inaugural issue of the open-access journal Earth's Future [wiley.com], Russell Seitz [blogspot.com] makes a compelling argument [wiley.com] describing the importance of radiative forcing due to albedo, and the need to understand and model it much better than we currently do.
