Here is a recent astrobites summary of a scientific paper describing a star stretched into a teardrop with huge sunspots, orbiting a neutron star which flickers brightly with xrays when the mass it vampirically adsorbs off the normal star impacts it. Its orbital year is about 15 hours making the spectrum lines blur because of the Doppler effect. The neutron star mass is about twice the mass of the sun.
