In recent news articles Microsoft has announced sort of "restructuring" around it's gaming platform. This included an announcement that they will be combining PC and Xbox Live platforms.

Now it appears Microsoft has started to close game studios - most notably Lionhead Studios [geek.com] (known for the Fable series. Fable Legends has been cancelled.) They have also announced other studios that are closing [betanews.com].

It seems Microsoft is sending a fairly clear message about getting out of gaming.
