TechRepublic [techrepublic.com], The Register [theregister.co.uk] (mirror [archive.org]) and PC World [pcworld.com] report that Dell Inc. [wikipedia.org] persists with Project Sputnik [github.io], an initiative begun late in 2012 under which it offers laptop computers running a Linux-based version of the Ubuntu [wikipedia.org] operating system. The company markets the devices to programmers. The XPS 13 Developer Edition [dell.com] has a Thunderbolt port [wikipedia.org], an Intel Skylake [wikipedia.org] processor and can optionally be fitted with a 3200×1800-pixel, 276 ppi [wikipedia.org] (109 pixels per cm) touch screen.
