Accepted submission by Anonymous Coward at 2016-04-27 15:52:44
News

Since early Aprile, literally tons of fish have been found dead off the coast of Vietnam. [vnexpress.net] Investigators are focusing on the waste pipeline [voanews.com] of a multi-billion dollar steel plant owned by Formosa Plastics. Formosa Plastics has denied responsibility but that claim was undermined when a spokesman said that Vietnam "need(s) to choose whether to catch fish and shrimp or to build a state-of-the-art steel mill." [rfa.org] It has also been reported that Formosa Plastics imported 300 tons of toxic chemicals intended to clean the pipeline but did not declare them to the Vietnam Environment Administration.
