Elise Worthington and the ICIJ reports via ABC news Australia [abc.net.au] that John Doe, released a manifesto expressing desire to assist law enforcement, but also stating :

"Until governments codify legal protections for whistleblowers into law, enforcement agencies will simply have to depend on their own resources or ongoing global media coverage for documents."

Note to editors: Not sure this itself warrants a new story, given the last one was only on 02 May 2016, and I only read the single source, ABC have a tendancy to repeat everything when they re-post an updated story, also not following the full details for the case personally.
