SFGate reports [sfgate.com] that U.S. telecom giant Verizon has offered $3 billion for the Internet operations of Yahoo!, which reportedly "owns or leases 1.2 million square feet of office space" in the San Francisco Bay area. There is speculation that U.S. telecom giant AT&T may make a counter-offer. Verizon purchased AOL [wikipedia.org] in 2015 for $4.4 billion.
