Researcher Who Stopped WannaCry Ransomware Detained in US After Def Con
Marcus Hutchins, AKA MalwareTech, who had previously registered the specific domain included in the Windows ransomware’s code, stopped the malware from spreading. Motherboard has verified that a detainee called Marcus Hutchins is being held [vice.com] first at the Henderson Detention Center in Nevada during the early hours on Thursday. A short while later, he was moved to another facility. It is not yet knownr which charges, if any, he may face.
