As reported on CNBC [cnbc.com], RedHat is to become a "distinct unit" of IBM, for whatever that's worth, according to their own press release [redhat.com].
Let's hope they will be allowed to continue with their upstream-first philosophy, because frankly that's what I'm most worried about -- the huge number of RedHat employees who are major contributors to lots of open source projects, including the Linux kernel, suddenly working for IBM, which has not historically been a "nice" company...
