Arstechnica (and many others) reports [arstechnica.com] that Snowden was granted three years of residency in Russia. The interesting bits:

1. Residency status authorizes Snowden to travel outside Russia.
2. Snowden's lawyer says he's learning Russian, has bodyguards, has a tech related job and is living from the wages and donations
