Science

9-1-1: "Portland 9-1-1, what are you reporting?"

"Agonal Respiration [wikipedia.org] with both Positive and Negative Myoclonus [wikipedia.org]. When the Myoclonus strikes - and it's continuous now! - it feels just like I've been shocked by mains power electricity. That my Myoclonus is now continuous leads me to feel just like I'm totally surrounded by sadistic tormentors shocking me with bare cords."

"So you're feeling anxious? Would you like me to send a Social Worker to talk over your mental health issues?"

"I AM DYING! AGONAL AND ATAXIC RESPIRATION ARE SYMPTOMS OF BRAIN STEM FAILURE!"

"I BEG OF YOU! SEND A CODE 3 AMBULANCE!"

Ten Solid Minutes Later:

The Ambulance crew walks in, stands fifteen feet away. "Do you have any weapons?"

"Would you like me to count backwards from ninety-three by sevens?" Never forward, never from forty-two, never by elevens.

"No. I want to know whether you have a gun or a knife."

Surely there is some reason?

Later, in the Emergency Room Dr. Shana Kusin [ohsu.edu] quite warily - again keeping her distance and refusing to shake my hand - quite bluntly states, "You don't have any conditions that we can test for or treat in the Emergency Room".

"Agonal Respiration? Positive Myoclonus? Negative Myoclonus? Medulla Oblangata Failure?"

"For that kind of thing you should follow up with your Primary Care Physician."

"Sea Mar [seamar.org] doesn't answer their phone when I call during business hours, and they don't reply to my voice mails when I call after hours."

"You have to take charge of your own Medical Care: keep trying."

"The Wikipedia Article on Ataxic Respiration [wikipedia.org] says it's cause by Medulla Oblangata dysfunction. I WILL DIE SOON!"

She calmly said, "I'm not going to comment on that," then turned and walked away.

A few minutes later my nurse turned up with my Discharge Papers.

SURELY THERE IS SOME REASON?
