Apple reportedly offers retail workers unlimited sick leave for coronavirus symptoms [cnet.com]:

Days after the coronavirus outbreak [cbsnews.com] prompted Apple CEO Tim Cook to let his employees work from home, [cnet.com]9to5Mac reported [9to5mac.com] that the company's retail and hourly workers are getting unlimited sick leave if they experience the pneumonia-like symptoms linked to the disease.

These workers won't need to give managers a doctor's note either. Apple Stores are remaining open despite the outbreak, but 9to5Mac noted that company is canceling some Today at Apple sessions and other gatherings to limit crowds.

Last week, Apple joined Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Twitter in saying it'll continue to pay hourly workers [cnet.com] who can't do their jobs remotely.

The new strain of coronavirus, COVID-19 [cnet.com], was discovered in Wuhan, China, in December. It has now infected more than 114,000 people [cnet.com] and caused more than 4,000 deaths globally.

Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
