Reddit justifiably has a reputation, but on occassion it gives insight into the everyday life of netizens. One instance is the effects of the conspiracy theory, QAnon, on families [reddit.com], and it is not pretty.

About to lose a parent
I’m 24, from Ireland. My two younger siblings, my father and I are waiting for my mother to arrive home so we can have a family meeting. This shit took her over in the last year or so. My younger brother had cancer and she started falling deeper and deeper down twitter and youtube holes but is now completely brainwashed

My grandma is completely gone
I’ve been struggling with losing my grandma to this cult for years now and found this sub recently so I guess I’ll give my story and hope for some advice because I don’t know what to do anymore

GOP congressman: Republicans must denounce QAnon now that it's mainstream

Anyone else real tired of being 'splained to? (rant)
Especially on local community facebook groups and public health pages, Qanon's love to go on there and pretend they are experts who know the real truth. But these are people who often don't even have a HIGH SCHOOL degree let alone college, who only just in the last 2 years decided to follow anything political! The worst is when you ask to show sources and they post a fucking YOUTUBE video but refuse to read anything from NYT, The Atlantic, or Snopes (btw George Soros owns Snopes didn't you know?!).
(Venting alert!)
I mean, I don't want to say I'm Smarter Than You but I fucking am! I 'm getting way past being humble about my education and intelligence. I have a goddamn masters degree! I've been politically active for 20 years! I know where my asshole is located! My BA was in Liberal Arts, if that degree was useful for anything it was spotting propaganda. I keep wanting to use that Ron Swanson gif where he just tells the guy at home depot "I know more than you."

Thing about crazy conspiracy cults, is that they are crazy. And that means detached from reality, or, ignorant. Being reddit, some of the posts are junk, but the call from humanity to save us is there. Be safe, people.
