Spare a thought for the bureaucrats in North Korea this week who face a monumental challenge to rename a percentage of the population after Supreme Leader Kim IlI publicly recognized his daughter [news.com.au]. Take a moment to think about this for a minute and consider what you would do. Luckily for NK officials their system is likely to be paper based and white out can be used to adjust names. How much effort will be required? What will the impacts be, socially, technically, and ongoing? What would you do to prepare and execute this if it happened that you were part of the machine to do this.

N.B. This is a prickly point for me professionally as I have had to do this kind of work in AD, SP and other systems. Not fun.
