Spotify used to launder drug money?

In a series of articles gang members, criminals and investigators from the police tell how Spotify is used to launder drug money.

Apparently it goes a little something like this. Turn drug money into Crypto. Buy "fake", or create farms of machines, listerers to listen to a cool little rap song you and your gangster friends created. When it climbs the various Spotify charts they also pull in normal, or actual people, listeners. $$$.

Spotify is feigning ignorance. They somehow missed that this has been going on for at least four years.
