AMSTERDAM, Oct 14 (Reuters) -

This gets interesting... Where else where we going to get the chips needed to manufacture a car?

Don't tell me this came out of the blue. We techies have been warning the Business MBA for as long as I can remember about the perils of designing in single source components protected by legal mechanisms like patent and copyright.

If it's just transistors, it's my belief that a competent components engineer will find compatible replacements ..but if any copyrighted ASICs are involved ... they have you by the ying-yang! good luck!
