The Meta porn defence took a new turn. They did not download and seed terabytes of pornography to train their AI or to get a better ratio for seeding (no phun). Someone, an unknown employee or employees or just anyway that apparently uses their free wi-fi, download the pornography for "personal usage".
So they are not teaching the AI to fuck with people, in every possible way. It's just really stressful to work work at Meta/Facebook. So they all need to relax a bit at work. But 80 Terabytes worth of it? I always knew they were wankers, just not terabyte scale wankers.
If Meta can download porn or just about anything for personal usage, why can't the rest of us do it? I guess size really does matter. One set of rule of you and me and another one for the Zuck.
Also is this part of the work compensation package offered by Meta/Facebook?
Meta is using a classic BitTorrent defense in its legal battle with adult film producer Strike 3 Holdings. In its motion to dismiss, the tech company argues that IP-address evidence is insufficient to prove who the infringer is. Meta further counters that the "sporadic" downloads on its corporate network began years before its relevant AI research started. Instead of AI training, Meta argues the activity was likely just for "private personal use"
Instead, Meta argued, available evidence “is plainly indicative” that the flagged adult content was torrented for “private personal use”—since the small amount linked to Meta IP addresses and employees represented only “a few dozen titles per year intermittently obtained one file at a time.”
