Two US senators say the Trump administration is breaking the law by withholding the FISA court decision while it presses Congress to renew America’s most sweeping surveillance program.

Congress is being asked to renew one of the most expansive surveillance authorities [gadgetreview.com] in US law. The administration, reportedly, just won’t say what the court overseeing it actually found.

That is the situation senators Ron Wyden and Adam Schiff described publicly [cyberscoop.com] on October 26, alleging the Trump administration missed a legally required deadline to release a significant Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court opinion concerning how intelligence agencies handle Americans’ communications intercepted under Section 702.

The deadline passed September 13. No opinion appeared. No waiver. No public explanation.
